Dental implants in Armenia: cost, timeline and how many trips you need
What dental implants cost in Yerevan, what drives the price per tooth, how long treatment takes and how to fit it into two trips.
Dental implants in Armenia are drawing more international patients every year, mostly because treatment in Yerevan can cost noticeably less than at home while the clinical approach follows the same international protocols. But implants are not a weekend procedure. This guide covers what dental implants cost in Yerevan, what actually drives the price per tooth, how long treatment takes and how many trips you should plan for.
The key point first: an accurate treatment plan and quote are only possible after an examination and a 3D scan of your jaw. Everything below will help you understand the logic and ask the right questions.
Dental implants abroad: what do they cost in Armenia?
Based on Yerevan clinics’ public price lists in early 2026, placing a single implant (the implant and the surgery) costs roughly 120,000 to 200,000 AMD. The abutment and crown are usually charged separately, which matters a lot when comparing offers.
The full cost of one finished tooth is built from several parts:
- Implant system. Brands and product lines differ in price, track record and how easy it is to source parts in other countries.
- Abutment. Stock or custom, titanium or zirconia.
- Crown. Porcelain fused to metal is usually cheaper; zirconia and all-ceramic crowns cost more.
- Bone preparation. Bone grafting or a sinus lift adds both cost and time.
- Diagnostics and temporaries. CBCT scan, extractions, temporary crowns or dentures.
- Number of visits. Each trip means flights and accommodation.
Comparing clinics on “implant price” alone is misleading. Compare complete quotes that list the same items. Your final figure comes from a personal estimate after consultation.
Dental implant treatment step by step
A classic two-stage implant treatment runs like this:
- Diagnosis. Examination, CBCT scan and tests if needed. The dentist checks bone volume, gum health and neighbouring teeth.
- Preparation. Treating decay and gum disease, removing teeth that cannot be saved, bone grafting if required.
- Implant placement. Done under local anaesthetic, typically 30 minutes to an hour per implant.
- Healing (osseointegration). The implant fuses with the bone. In the lower jaw this usually takes about 3 months; in the upper jaw often 4 to 6 months.
- Restoration. Healing cap, then abutment, a digital scan or impressions, and finally the crown.
In selected cases with good bone volume and density, the surgeon may offer immediate loading: a temporary crown or bridge on the day of surgery or soon after. It is not suitable for everyone, and the decision rests with the surgeon.
How many trips to Armenia will you need?
Most patients travelling for implants complete treatment in two trips.
| Stage | What happens | Typical time in Yerevan |
|---|---|---|
| Trip 1 | Diagnosis, extractions, implant placement, temporaries | Usually 5 to 7 days |
| At home | Implants heal; check-ins by photo and with a local dentist if needed | Usually 3 to 6 months |
| Trip 2 | Abutments, scanning, try-ins, fitting permanent crowns | Usually 7 to 10 days |
If you need bone grafting or a sinus lift, an extra stage and several months of healing may be added. With immediate loading you may leave the first trip with temporary teeth, but permanent restorations still follow healing.
Tip: send a CBCT scan, or at least a panoramic X-ray, before you travel. The dentist can then draft a preliminary plan and you can book time off with more confidence.
Full mouth dental implants: the main options
When a whole jaw has no teeth, or the remaining teeth cannot be saved, the usual options are:
- Fixed full-arch bridge on 4 to 6 implants. One bridge for the whole jaw, sometimes with temporary teeth fitted soon after surgery.
- Implant-retained removable denture. Clips onto implants or a bar, far more stable than a conventional denture, removable for cleaning and usually less expensive.
- Individual implants with bridges or single crowns. More implants and more stages, but closest to natural teeth.
Which suits you depends on bone, bite, general health and budget. It is always the dentist’s decision after a CBCT, not a choice from a menu.
How to check a dental clinic in Armenia
Online reviews help, but they should not be your only filter. We suggest checking a few practical things:
- does the clinic have its own CBCT or a reliable imaging partner;
- which implant system is used, and can it be serviced in your home country;
- will you get an implant passport listing the manufacturer, batch and size;
- is there a written warranty, and what exactly does it cover;
- who leads treatment: one dentist, or a surgeon and prosthodontist team;
- will the clinic stay in touch after you go home.
The implant passport is especially important for overseas patients. If a screw or crown needs replacing years later, your local dentist will know exactly which system they are dealing with.
Why patients choose Yerevan, and what to keep in mind
Armenia offers some practical advantages. Clinics tend to be smaller, so the same dentist often follows you from consultation to final crown. Russian and English are widely spoken in clinics that see international patients, and Yerevan has direct flights from many cities in the region.
There are also honest downsides to treatment abroad. You will need at least two trips, and between them your implant dentist is not around the corner. Agree in advance how communication will work, and find a local dentist you can see if needed. Savings only make sense once flights, accommodation and time off are counted, not just the implant price.
The first days after implant placement
- slight bleeding on the first day is common; gauze and rest help;
- swelling usually peaks on days 2 to 3, then settles; a cold pack on the cheek in the first hours helps;
- eat soft, lukewarm food and chew on the other side for the first days;
- avoid smoking and alcohol, which slow healing;
- rinses, painkillers and any antibiotics are prescribed by your dentist; do not add anything on your own.
Most patients are walking around the city the next day. Your dentist will tell you when it is fine to fly, often within 1 to 2 days of surgery.
Risks to be aware of
Implants are a well-studied treatment, but they still involve surgery. Possible problems include:
- swelling, bruising and soreness in the first days;
- inflammation or infection around the implant;
- failure to integrate, more common in smokers and people with poorly controlled diabetes;
- peri-implantitis years later if hygiene is poor;
- rarely, nerve or sinus injury, which is why a 3D scan before surgery matters.
Thorough diagnosis, not smoking and regular professional cleaning reduce most of these risks. With good care, an integrated implant can last for many years, while the crown on top may eventually need replacing.
