Dental tourism in Armenia: how to plan treatment across two trips
How to plan dental treatment in Yerevan: what fits into one trip, what needs two, how many days to book and how to care for your mouth between visits.
Dental tourism in Armenia works best when treatment is planned trip by trip from the start. Veneers, crowns, fillings and whitening usually fit into a single stay in Yerevan. Implants are different: the bone needs a few months to integrate them, so the usual pattern is two trips, one for surgery and one for the final teeth. This guide shows how each treatment is typically split, how many days to book, what to do between visits and what your estimate should include.
Which dental treatments fit one trip and which need two?
| Treatment | Usual trips | Days per trip (guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning, fillings, root canals, whitening | 1 | 2 to 5 |
| Veneers or crowns on natural teeth | 1 | 7 to 10 |
| Single or a few implants | 2, 3 to 6 months apart | 3 to 5, then 5 to 7 |
| All-on-4 or All-on-6 | 2, 3 to 6 months apart | 5 to 7, then 7 to 10 |
| Bone graft or sinus lift with implants | 2 or 3 | 7 to 10 for the surgery trip |
These are typical timeframes. Your dentist sets the real schedule after reviewing your CT scan or X-ray, and it can change if something unexpected turns up, such as an infection that needs treating first.
Before the first trip: what to send and what to ask for
A lot of the work happens remotely, which saves days in Yerevan. Prepare:
- A panoramic X-ray or, better, a recent cone beam CT scan.
- Photos of your smile from the front and side, and of both arches.
- Your medical history: conditions, allergies, medication (especially blood thinners and osteoporosis drugs) and whether you smoke.
- What you want to achieve: better chewing, a new colour, replacing a removable denture.
Then ask for a written plan that says what happens on each trip, how many days you need, which materials will be used and an itemised estimate. If the plan changes at the first visit after examination, the change should be explained and confirmed in writing before work starts.
First trip: diagnosis, surgery and temporaries
Day one is usually examination, any missing scans and confirming the plan. Then come cleaning, any extractions and implant placement. If you also have decay or fillings to sort out, this trip is the time to do it.
A useful planning tip: if you are getting implants in the visible area, leave cosmetic veneers and crowns for the second trip. That way colour and shape are chosen for everything at once and the smile looks consistent.
If you go home with a temporary bridge or crown, you will be shown how to clean it and what to eat. A check-up before you fly is common.
What to do between the first and second trip
- Keep up careful hygiene with a soft brush, a water flosser and interdental brushes.
- Stick to the soft diet you were given, especially with temporaries on implants.
- Avoid smoking, or cut down as much as possible while the implant integrates.
- Have stitches removed by your local dentist if this was not done in Yerevan.
- Send photos or a check-up X-ray if the clinic asks for them.
- Report rising pain, swelling, a loose implant or a loose temporary straight away.
Medarmenia stays in touch with the clinic throughout these months, so you can message us and we connect you with your dentist in Yerevan.
Second trip: final teeth and paperwork
On the second trip impressions or scans are taken, the framework is tried in, and the final crowns or bridge are fitted with bite adjustment. This is also when planned veneers go on.
Before you leave, ask for your implant documentation: brand, model, diameter and length, plus the final X-rays. If you ever need a repair at home, your dentist will need it to source compatible parts. Also get the warranty terms in writing, including what happens if you need to come back to Yerevan for a problem.
Travelling to Yerevan: stay, flights and insurance
Yerevan is connected by air to many European and Middle Eastern cities, directly or with one connection depending on where you start. EU citizens can currently enter Armenia visa-free for up to 180 days a year; other nationalities should check current entry rules.
After implant surgery without a sinus lift, flying within a few days is usually possible; after a sinus lift a longer wait is often advised. Either way, your surgeon confirms. Check whether your travel insurance covers complications of planned treatment, since many policies do not. Clinics in Yerevan commonly work in Armenian, Russian and English, and Medarmenia coordinates communication and can arrange an interpreter. See everything our coordination covers on our services page.
Cost: what your estimate should include
As a reference point, based on Yerevan clinics’ public price lists in early 2026, a single implant costs roughly 120,000 to 200,000 AMD without the crown. Your total depends on the number of implants, the brand, abutments and crowns, any grafting, sedation, scans and two trips with accommodation and transfers. Make sure the estimate clearly separates what is done on each trip. More on our implants and veneers page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get implants and crowns in one trip?
Only in specific immediate-loading cases, and even then the first crown is temporary. Normally the implant needs 3 to 6 months to integrate before the final crown.
How many days do I need in Yerevan for veneers?
Usually 7 to 10 days, because the lab needs several days between preparation and bonding.
What if I have a problem after I get home?
Contact the clinic through Medarmenia first so the issue can be assessed from photos or X-rays. Many minor problems can be handled by your local dentist; warranty terms should be in writing.
Do I need a CT scan before travelling?
For implants it is strongly recommended, as it allows precise planning and avoids surprises. If you do not have one, it is done in Yerevan on day one.
Can I come back sooner than 3 months?
It depends on your bone and the implant type. Loading an implant before it has integrated raises the risk of failure, so your dentist sets the date.
