Morpheus8: what RF microneedling is and what results to expect
How Morpheus8 works, what it can improve on the face and body, how many sessions are typical, recovery day by day and when it is not enough.
Morpheus8 is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling treatment: very fine needles enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency heat into the dermis and, depending on settings, the superficial fat layer. The combination of micro-injury and heat stimulates new collagen, refines texture and can tighten skin a little. It is not a surgical lift, and it helps to know from the start what it can and cannot do.
This guide covers how it works, who it suits, how many sessions are typical, what recovery looks like day by day, and how it fits into a trip to Yerevan, Armenia, for other treatment.
What is Morpheus8 and how does it work?
Morpheus8 is the brand name of an applicator made by InMode. Other RF microneedling devices follow the same principle. The handpiece holds an array of needles that enter the skin to an adjustable depth, a few millimetres on the face and somewhat deeper on the body, and release energy at the tips.
The result is a grid of tiny heat points below the surface. Skin responds by repairing itself, producing new collagen and elastin over weeks and months. That is why results are gradual rather than visible when you leave the clinic.
Who is Morpheus8 good for, and who should skip it?
It is commonly offered for:
- Mild to moderate laxity on the cheeks, jawline, neck and under the chin.
- Uneven texture, enlarged pores and fine lines.
- Atrophic acne scars.
- Slightly loose skin on the abdomen, arms or thighs (body mode), for example after weight loss or liposuction.
It is not the right tool for marked sagging of the face or neck, a lot of excess skin or heavy fat pads. There a facelift or other surgery achieves what no device can. It is also usually avoided during pregnancy, with active infection in the area, a tendency to keloids, some implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers, or after recent isotretinoin, among other situations your doctor will check.
How many Morpheus8 sessions do you need?
A typical plan is 1 to 3 sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on the goal. Acne scars or body skin may need more. Many clinics then suggest one maintenance session a year.
Early improvement usually shows at 1 to 3 months and keeps maturing until around 6 months. “Morpheus8 before and after” photos vary a lot, because results depend on age, skin type, device settings and the practitioner’s experience.

How to prepare for a Morpheus8 session
Good preparation lowers risk and makes recovery easier. Usually you will be asked to:
- Tell your doctor about medication, allergies, any history of cold sores and recent treatments such as fillers, peels or laser.
- Avoid tanning and strong sun exposure in the weeks before.
- Pause retinoids and exfoliating products for a few days beforehand, if your doctor advises it.
- Arrive with clean skin and no make-up.
If you get cold sores, your doctor may prescribe a preventive antiviral. Plan the session at least a week or two before any important event, so redness and marks have time to settle completely.
Morpheus8 recovery day by day
A session takes 30 to 90 minutes depending on the areas, after numbing cream. You feel heat and prickling; intensity rises with depth. A typical course:
- Days 1 and 2: sunburn-like redness, swelling and sometimes grid marks.
- Days 3 to 5: swelling settles; small scabs or flaking may appear.
- Week 1: most people are socially back to normal; make-up is usually allowed after 24 to 48 hours if your doctor agrees.
- Following weeks: high SPF, no direct sun, sauna or exfoliants until cleared.
Possible risks include hyperpigmentation (more common in darker skin), burns, infection, slow-fading marks and, rarely, fat loss if settings are wrong. Who treats you, and with which parameters, really matters.
Morpheus8 cost per session: what drives it
We do not quote figures, because they vary a lot. The main factors are:
- The area: face, face and neck, abdomen, thighs.
- Number of passes and type of tip.
- Whether the tip is genuine and new for each patient.
- Per-session pricing or a package of several.
Always ask which device is used. Some machines are marketed as equivalents but are not the same.
Morpheus8 in Yerevan: when it makes sense
Morpheus8 on its own rarely justifies a trip, because it usually needs several sessions weeks apart. It makes more sense when you are already coming to Yerevan for something else, such as a facelift, eyelid surgery or dental work, and the doctor suggests a first session during the same stay. Later sessions can be done at home.
Availability depends on the clinic, and Medarmenia checks which technology a clinic actually has before suggesting it. After a session you can usually fly the next day if there are no complications, but protect your skin from sun on the way. Check entry requirements for your nationality before you travel.
Frequently asked questions
Does Morpheus8 hurt?
With numbing cream most people find it tolerable, though heat and prickling are noticeable, especially over bone. Deeper settings are more uncomfortable.
How long do Morpheus8 results last?
Results commonly last around a year or a little longer, because skin keeps ageing. That is why maintenance sessions are suggested.
Does Morpheus8 work on the stomach?
It can improve mild laxity and texture on the abdomen. With excess skin or muscle separation, the answer is usually surgical.
Is Morpheus8 better than HIFU?
They work differently: Morpheus8 treats skin and superficial fat with needles, while HIFU focuses ultrasound deeper without breaking the skin. Your doctor chooses based on your skin and goal.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes, it is often combined with neuromodulators, fillers or surgery, in the order and with the intervals your doctor sets.
