Brow lift and fox eyes: surgical and non-surgical options in Armenia

Endoscopic, temporal, thread or Botox brow lift: what each one achieves, how long it lasts and what the fox eye trend really involves.

A brow lift raises and repositions low eyebrows to open up the eyes and soften a tired or cross look that often has nothing to do with how you actually feel. It can be done surgically (endoscopic, temporal or direct) or without surgery, using Botox or threads, and the results and longevity differ a lot. This guide explains the options, what the “fox eyes” trend really involves, and how treatment is organised in Yerevan, Armenia.

One thing worth knowing first: plenty of people assume they need eyelid surgery when the real issue is a dropped brow. The reverse happens too. That is why an in-person or video assessment by a plastic surgeon matters so much.

What is a brow lift procedure and which types exist?

With age, the forehead loses support and the tail of the brow is usually the first part to drop. The upper lid then looks heavier and seems to have more skin than it really does. The main surgical techniques are:

  • Endoscopic brow lift: three to five short incisions inside the hairline; the forehead is released and lifted with a camera. Scars are hidden in the hair.
  • Temporal (lateral) brow lift: short incisions in the temple hair. It lifts mainly the tail of the brow and is the surgical option closest to the “fox eye” look.
  • Hairline (pretrichial) brow lift: the incision follows the front of the hairline. Used for high foreheads, because it lifts the brow without making the forehead longer.
  • Direct brow lift: a strip of skin is removed just above the brow. It leaves a visible scar, so it is kept for specific cases such as older men with thick brows or facial palsy.
  • Internal browpexy: the brow is anchored from inside through an upper blepharoplasty incision. A modest support, useful when combined with eyelid surgery.

Most are done under general anaesthesia or sedation and take one to two hours. The right technique depends on your forehead height, hairline, brow shape and goals, and your surgeon makes that call after examining you.

Non-surgical brow lift: Botox and threads

Searches for “brow lift Botox” keep growing, and it is easy to see why: no operating theatre and no time off. Just be clear on what each can do.

Botox brow lift: a small dose relaxes the part of the muscle that pulls the tail of the brow down, letting the lifting muscles win. The lift is usually a few millimetres and lasts around 3 to 4 months. It is a good way to preview a slightly higher brow, not a fix for a marked droop.

Thread lift: absorbable threads with cones or barbs are placed under the skin to pull tissue up. The early effect can look striking, but it usually lasts 6 to 12 months depending on the material and your skin. Possible problems include asymmetry, dimpling, palpable threads, infection and an unnatural expression.

No non-surgical option replaces surgery when the brow has genuinely descended. Availability of each technique depends on the clinic, and Medarmenia checks this for you before you travel.

Fox eyes: what the trend involves and the risks

The “fox eye” or “cat eye” look aims for a high brow tail and a slightly upswept outer corner of the eye. On social media it is mostly done with threads, and many of those photos show day one, at maximum tension.

Before you ask for it, keep in mind:

  • The thread effect is temporary and the pull fades over months.
  • Over-tightening can leave a fixed or surprised expression, and asymmetry shows more here than almost anywhere else.
  • Changing the shape of the eye corner (canthoplasty) is a separate operation with its own eyelid risks, not the same as lifting the brow.
  • A good surgeon adapts the idea to your anatomy; a subtle temporal lift often gives a fresher look without dating your face to one trend.

Brow lift recovery and risks

Recovery after a surgical brow lift is shorter than after a facelift, but it is not instant:

Option Swelling and bruising Back to social life How long it lasts
Endoscopic 1–2 weeks, may settle into the eyelids Around 10–14 days Several years
Temporal 7–10 days Around 7–10 days Several years
Thread lift A few days 2–5 days About 6–12 months
Botox Minimal Immediately About 3–4 months

Day by day, the first 48 hours bring tightness and often a mild headache. Bruising peaks around days 2 to 3, then fades. Scalp numbness is normal and can take months to settle. Stitches or clips usually come out at 7 to 10 days. Sleep with your head raised for the first weeks and skip hard exercise, direct sun and saunas until cleared.

The main risks are asymmetry, over-elevation (a surprised look), hair thinning along the incisions, altered sensation and, uncommonly, injury to the nerve branch that moves the forehead. Choosing a surgeon experienced in upper-face surgery reduces these risks considerably.

Having a brow lift in Yerevan: stay, flights and follow-up

For a surgical brow lift in Yerevan, plan to stay 7 to 10 days so you can attend the next-day check and have stitches removed before leaving. For Botox or threads, 2 to 3 days is enough. Flying home is usually fine after about a week following surgery, but your surgeon confirms it.

Once home, follow-up continues by photos and video call, and it helps to have your GP or a local plastic surgeon available for an in-person check if needed. If you also have excess eyelid skin, see our blepharoplasty page; if sagging extends to the cheeks and neck, a facelift may be the better route.

How much does a brow lift cost?

We do not quote fixed figures because brow lift cost varies with the technique, anaesthesia type, whether it is combined with eyelid surgery, nights in the clinic and accommodation. Botox and threads are priced per session or per number of threads. Send us your photos and we will prepare a personal estimate showing exactly what is included.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brow lift leave a scar?

With endoscopic and temporal techniques the scars sit inside the hair and are usually hard to see. A direct brow lift leaves a fine scar above the brow, which is why it is used only in selected cases.

How long does a brow lift last?

A surgical brow lift keeps the brow higher for several years, although natural ageing continues. Threads last months and Botox about 3 to 4 months.

Brow lift or blepharoplasty: which do I need?

It depends on where the problem is. If the brow has dropped, removing eyelid skin alone can make things look worse. The two are often combined, and your surgeon decides after an examination.

Is brow lift recovery painful?

Surgery is done under anaesthesia. Afterwards expect tightness and a mild headache for a few days, usually controlled with standard painkillers.

Are fox eye thread lifts safe?

They are a minor procedure but carry risks such as asymmetry, dimpling or an unnatural look, and the effect is temporary. Have it done only by an experienced doctor.
